I bought a refurbished device to replace the Samsung SCH-LC11 access point which had a second battery that was swollen (I didn't stick to my routine of using the device at night off regularly) and that there were problems with frequent disconnections. We live in rural southern Maryland and our home is surrounded by woods - the signal strength for our location is questionable. Various reviews have shown that this device supports the connection well, and some reviews suggest that it could perform better than the next Mi-Fi model. One issue was that the device came without a SIM card, which I didn't realize. However, since our data plan is with Verizon, it was fairly easy to connect to Verizon, move our sim to the 890L, deactivate our Samsung, and activate the 890L. So far the device has maintained a great connection (2 bar) despite a relatively weak connection. I haven't yet determined how long or how well the device lasts on battery power, but for our typical use, portability isn't a huge issue.
