Review on Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Lens - Fixed Black (6310B002) for US Cameras by Xavier Xavier ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm amazed! It was definitely worth the money!

I really liked this lens! On a Canon 5D DSLR, I had an EF 24-70mm f / 2.8L for a long time and I thought that on my new Canon RP mirrorless camera I would limit myself to it . unfortunately, it turned out to be noisy when recording video and I ordered a Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM after seeing many positive reviews about it. The lens directly "merged" with the camera - they matched each other so much :) I just liked everything: weight, size, sharpness at an open aperture, and also quiet - almost completely silent! - focus when recording video. And the price is acceptable (the is weakening and prices are rising for everything, alas :( Until I went outside with this pancake, so I can’t check whether it catches “hares” from the Sun and how it feels in the rain (and I’m unlikely to shoot frogs in the rain :) . But in others reviews say that this lens does not need a hood. I wish you all the right choice and good shots! So far I can attach only one photo - this is our cat Alice :) Photo without processing.

Has pros: Compactness, sharpness in the open, price, focusing speed Its cons: on a full frame, not ideal geometry, but these are trifles

I use it mainly as a portrait lens in club lighting and other dark rooms. in combination with an external flash gives excellent results

Has pros: Sharp, quickly and accurately focuses, wider than 50mm, for crop - that's it! Strong Got cons: It buzzes when focusing, even though the STM motor .

Compared to the plastic 50mm 1.8, it focuses accurately and without misses, the design is much, much nicer! And a wider angle.

Has pros: price, specifications, STM With its cons. noise noticeably on the video you can hear everything (the solution is a separate microphone by itself)
