Review on Enhanced Logitech X-140 2.0 Speaker System by Ryan Chaplain

I was going to use my 360 with my 24 inch HDMI monitor but sound from HDMI is obviously being sucked up by the monitor which fortunately has an audio output (Nr Soundbar) I also use a monitor with my computer, so I was looking for a pair of reasonably reliable, good quality speakers that would reproduce game sounds well, as well as music, which I listen to quite often when using a computer. I'm not a music lover but I like my music and the sound is relatively distortion free and tinny. After looking around I decided to spend relatively little money on this thing and I have to say I have no regrets I'm me not sure what random low volume reviews are but I guess these people don't know how I regulate the volume of the device connected to the speakers. If I turn these kids up to maximum volume, I get distortion, but I also probably vibrate the whole house (and annoy the neighbors). At half volume, I can play music from my laptop and hear it fairly well from the first floor of the house (laptop is on the second) with no audible distortion. In terms of range, my ears are quite happy. These speakers produce a fairly full sound, and while the lack of a subwoofer means they don't rock my floor, that wasn't the goal I was aiming for. However, at medium volume, the bass is enough to make my desk vibrate. The high frequencies sound great too. No metallic tinyness. In summary, the sound quality is much higher than any standard laptop speaker set. I would say you are basically getting something that would work well as front left and front right home theater speakers. As for the body and construction, I also have to say that they are pretty solidly built. They're also quite large - check out the specs to get an idea of how much space they take up. However, they look great on the table and I don't think any trivial incident will destroy them. As for the knobs, I don't quite understand the function of the tone knob either. All the way to the left and it sounds like a set of laptop speakers. Sounds good in the middle. On the right it sounds like full bass and generally full sound. I can't think of any reason to do anything other than the rightmost setting. Oh, and the power supply is in the left speaker - hence the noticeable weight compared to the right. However, this means no power supply from the mains plug, which is definitely a plus. :) You have a port to connect to. Well, the 3.5mm jack is from the input device. Unfortunately, my kit didn't include a cable to connect, for example, an MP3 player to this port, so I had to go out and buy one. Not such a big deal and it's a pretty handy feature, but I just wish Logitech would realize that most people probably don't have 3.5mm male-to-male cables just lying around. Some people say they came with one, so maybe it's a packaging error. One odd design idea, however, is that the left speaker has a power adapter and cable, while the right speaker actually has an audio jack. I don't see anything good or bad about it, but it's different and may affect your setup. All in all these are pretty high quality speakers that are great for desktop use and I can't imagine they were designed for any other purpose. . They are great for both gaming and music.
