Review on Enhanced Logitech X-140 2.0 Speaker System by Braden Bowers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ordered a second pair right away. . . .

I also just ordered a new i7 computer and thought I would really like the speakers on my old Vista machine (X-140). But since I won't be decommissioning the Vista machine, I still need to buy another kit for the old PC or for the new PC. Problem is, I couldn't find a pair in my town's stores. I assumed they were discontinued. I couldn't find the combination of quality and low price I was looking for so I turned to Revain.com. Wow! I found the X140 on the front page of my first search for computer speakers! It didn't take long to make up my mind so I bought a pair. I mean they were what I compared the competition to and they cost about $10 less than what I paid in store. So why not? Why I like them:* Pretty good sound for the size. No, they can't reproduce a concert hall, but I've heard worse, and "cheap" $10 PC speakers just don't do the job. me more. They are suitable for occasional computer use and occasional listening to music. I think if you spend twice as much on speakers as you do on cheap ones, you get more than twice the performance.* Although it's about 9" tall, it's small, the base being a 3" x 10" rectangle .2 cm. They don't take up much desk space.* They appear to be well built, they don't feel cheap.* They look good. As a photographer I love beautiful things. Sleek and sleek, they look modern without resorting to flashing lights and Buck Rogers visuals.* Illuminated on/off volume knob. I want to know when something is running and sucking energy. I also like being able to adjust the volume or even mute the sound sometimes (I find the sound and music in Civilization III annoying!). In addition, I also belong to the generation of users who naturally look for a rotary knob rather than a keyboard for this type of volume control. We are all victims of our upbringing!* Tone controls. Slightly narrow adjustment range, but better than no adjustment that many speaker sets in this price range offer.* Easily accessible headphone jack and easily accessible aux connector. input socket. How expensive would it be to add this to ALL audio equipment? I would welcome government intervention in this area, make it so! But Logitech would have stocked up with this set. (Of course, one might also wonder why computer manufacturers don't put them on the front of the PC where they should be, but I'll refrain from my soapbox.) I can't think of anything bad about these speakers. They are great speakers for everyday work. They are reliable and inexpensive. you could make it worse
