Winner of PC Magazine's Choice.

Here are the "goods" and "bads" of this product.BENEFITS.1. I bought mine for $186, buyer return. Compare that to my previous two Laserjet IIs at $3600 each and six Laserject 2100s at $600 each, it was a steal. At this price, this device is a "blowout". The industry "rule of thumb" is throw it in the trash if it costs more than 50% or $93.2 to repair or replace parts. Text quality at 600 dpi was excellent, sharp and clear.3. The print speed was relatively fast - sufficient for my needs.4. The…

STARTING PROBLEMS/NO SUPPORT

When I first set up this printer it worked; the next time I wanted to use it I had to go through the whole setup again, it worked; The third time I couldn't get it to work, I kept getting the "Printer not found" message. I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with tech support, nothing he/we tried worked, drivers weren't found on HP's website, just didn't work; He "handed over" the case to his boss, who still hasn't called me back. This morning I decided to try again. I went through the whole setup…

NOT at all what they advertise

I was looking for a great monochrome laser printer to replace my $99 Brother laser printer that I currently use for my business. The reviews were so convincing for it that I decided to pay almost 3 times as much for it. (I've bought many HP products in the past with great results and no issues.) While I like the idea of not buying replacement toner, I was very surprised to find that the print quality on this machine is MUCH worse than my current $99 US dollar machine. laser printer. This…

Paper feed did not work after unpacking

Printer unpacked. instructions followed. Light. About 15 sheets of paper are loaded in the tray. An out of paper error has occurred. Added more paper. About 40 sheets. The "Out of Paper" message has not disappeared. After 15 minutes of trying to contact HP support (good luck), the printer finally decided to print a test page. The problem is that he grabbed 2 extra hands. Total return POS. Stay away from it.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Out of fashion

But I like the printer.

I really like this HP printer, but. For a $330 printer it's missing two key things that cheaper printers have, namely 1) a sheet feeder - you have to feed sheets one at a time while lifting the document cover to copy and scan - and 2) lacks a drawer for paper, although it has a paper slot cover that's tricky to install at best.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Something's wrong

Useful tool instead of the same old useless jet junk

I like this machine. This is the first time I can say that about a printer I've ever owned! Both the printer and the app give me the confidence to get the job done instead of messing around with stupid useless apps and cleaning printheads. It just works and the app is user-friendly. I will never buy an inkjet printer again. I've had all the brands and they all suck in basically the same way. Hopefully, given current laser prices, inkjet printers will soon take the path of CRT TVs. I don't think

Pros
  • GOLS certified

  • Some bugs
