Holds best in cameras and photos

This is an amazing ball head. I have an old HEAVY camera, my other ball head struggled to hold position without drifting slowly. I now use this ball head with an even heavier painting easel loaded with supplies and brushes. And you guessed it, it's rock solid. Highly recommended!

excellent shooting platform

excellent shooting platform. I use it with a Shadow Technology HOG Saddle to mount a Remington 700 338 for stable and accurate long range shooting. Excellent tracking, very smooth, easy to lock and lock quickly for an accurate shot. Mike Lamb of Stoic Ventures introduced me to building a more stable platform for shooting in tall grass and weeds and when shooting prone isn't an option.

Excellent quality! in Camera & Photo

Fast triggering is nice. This quality is great and I have no complaints, I haven't been able to use it that much yet but I'm very happy with it. I loved it so much I bought another one. The extra quick release plates are really nice, especially if you have multiple cameras or lenses and only one tripod and want to swap them out quickly. The seat is firm and a great upgrade from what I've been using.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Manfrotto tops the weight

I had a Vanguard ball head that worked well when using small lenses; but everything heavy didn't last. Manfrotto doesn't look much taller; but the tank will survive. I put my 150mm to 600mm Sigma on it and it works great. After you win, you get what you pay for. Why buy twice when once is enough when you strive for the best. If that's good enough for Thomas Heaton, it's good enough for me. See it being used on my Avid Amateur YouTube channel.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • High price

The best ball head I've ever had.

I'm a landscape photographer, I bought it to carry in my bag and travel long distances, used with a 190GO 4-sided tripod. Definitely the best I've ever had. 360 degree panning is great, as is a full 90 degrees for portrait mode or creating vertical panoramas. The ball head is very smooth. It's not the lightest head but not too heavy for hiking and delivers quality. I chose aluminum sticks because the same carbon fiber sticks cost twice as much and weighed only slightly less.

  • An absolute legend

The best ball head I've ever had!

The perfect head for the Sony a6000 that I use. It also doesn't require ball joint lube, so don't worry about black complacency. Robust professional construction. The friction knob is better than the $80 Manfrotto head this replaced. Very smooth, snaps into place so positively. The item was delivered on time. If you are looking for a quality head from Manfrotto then this is a great choice! Highly recommended. My cousin bought a $700 hydraulic head for his DSLR. I don't need it for hiking in the

Decent: I expected a little more for the price

This ball head works as advertised, comes with additional plates and screws straight into the Manfrotto leg system. The plastic parts (ie the locking system and all the screws to adjust the ball head) wear out after 3 days of intensive use in very harsh conditions. I'm worried they won't last. The ball head itself is a clever design that allows me to move and point the camera 360 degrees, but that only works in landscape mode. The vertical format uses the crop system shown in the product image,

Solid Jackson! - Camera and photo

This is a reliable device. Not the smallest ball head, but a good, decent mid-size for most of my purposes (70D with less zoom or prime, comes with battery grip and sometimes mic). Everything is solid. Did I mention it? And it's very well thought out too, from the updated QR release lever (gone is the weird little brass pin to a much easier to use black "handle") to the rotary and ballpoint pen buttons. As one of the things I'll be using in the movie slider, it's nice that the long levers on…

The answer I was looking for.

I've just started using it so my rating is based on first impressions. I have a question as to why I didn't purchase this mount a long time ago. I have a Manfrotto 290 tripod and two extra heads. The original is the 804RC2, a simple pan/tilt head that I used for photography. After meeting professional wedding photographers that I know and seeing how they use the ball head, it got me thinking. Also, I felt that the default pan had too many limitations, including the ability to capture the moon…
