Reliable CD & DVD Drives

Reliable Blu-ray Drive, Play's, Burns, Excellent. Works great with Windows 10! Burns high quality videos to blank Blu-ray discs and plays them perfectly on my Xbox One X. Back up important pictures and files. Couldn't ask for more. Very satisfied! Come with a product code for Cyberlink Media Suite 10 (which comes with a bunch of programs to get you started), a decent piece of software that lets you transfer video files to Blu-ray discs for making movies, ready for playback in playable on a…

Five stars at all levels

This is a fantastic disc. It reads and writes everything, and you can boot from it too. When connected to a USB 3 port, it is fast and requires no other power source. The included product key for the Cyberlink Media Suite is also an important selling point. Many other external drives don't come with any software at all. The software is easy to download and install and then works flawlessly. I burned a Windows 10 installation DVD with Power2Go and it works great. Power DVD plays all my discs…

  • Top marks for support and durability from testers

Disappointing waste of money

When you buy this, they don't tell you that in order to play literally any Blu-ray on it, you have to download *their* media player, it works like crap, and that the media player you buy probably use, does not work with Blu-ray. I've spent days trying to figure out how to get this to work and the sad fact is that it just doesn't work with anything. excluding media players specifically designed to play Blu-ray content.

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Compatible with MacOS Catalina

PROS: Works great with MacOS Catalina. plug and play No additional software required. - No additional power required (connected to USB-C). It has a DC IN 5V port on the back, but no power cord is included. CONS: - In fact, they aren't, but. Things to note: - This drive is *noisy* when ripping CDs or DVDs, but that's because it reads so fast - It's a clamshell design, but the button to open is still electric. You might think it's a manual latch, but it needs to be turned on to open. Once used…

Does the Job - Computer Components

Can't complain though. However, I've only been using this BD recorder for a few days. Can't rate tech support as I don't need it. The drive is a bit noisy at times and the included USB cable is too short, but I was able to just about install it in a spot where the cable was long enough. UPDATE 05/02/2020: Now I CAN complain. I've made more DVD+R DL COASTERS than really good discs. It's totally counterintuitive, but right now I'm probably averaging 1 in 3 good burns. This ONLY applies to DVD+R…

Software? Not afraid.

I bought this machine for two reasons; firstly it was toploading, secondly with burning software. I also generally trust the Pioneer name. However, I quickly found that the supplied software (Cyberlink PowerDirector15) was not only not fully functional, but also partially functional. You can't edit MPEG files with it and you can't burn Blu-ray discs with it! So you buy a Blu-ray burner with software that doesn't allow you to burn Blu-ray discs. I contacted Pioneer support and they confirmed it.

Buy regret is the best choice

Bought 2 of these units for my daughters for Christmas so they can watch BluRay movies through their laptops. But since you have to use them with the CyberLink software (probably included as a download), they're useless for BluRay. We've been trying to download CyberLink for 10 days now. But you must go through the Pioneer link and register an account with CyberLink first. CyberLink is COMPLETELY unresponsive. The account registration process does not work (no account setup confirmation emails…

Plug and play writer with no 3rd party software

I have a Dell XPS with Windows 10 and no optical drive. I bought this item to have an optical drive and also to be able to burn CD/DVD. I used the included USB 3.0 Type-C cable that came with the drive and attached the drive to the top of my computer with double-sided tape. I didn't have to download or buy any additional software to use this drive. I plugged it in, my computer recognized it and I just started using it. I was able to use this drive to view videos, photos, and various other…
