Warning: This product is a scam.

BUYER WARNING: This product receives ZERO. At first I was excited. As a hardware specialist, I needed a removable drive and it seemed perfect, but then problems arose. The drive was set to "Region 3" which I reset to Region 1 (US). The software minidisk I received contained: Nero Extreme, USB drivers and version 9 of something.? for the drive itself. However, they were in Chinese and would not install on Win 7. The drive reads the DVD, but does not recognize or write blank CDs. Some DVDs are…

Simple simple as described

Five stars for everything that is well designed and works as described which category this little machine belongs to. . . except for one thing: the length of the USB cables (or the length of at least one). This slim external DVD/CD drive worked right out of the box with my MacBook Air 13". The dozens of USB printer cables I have are used more regularly here as they will be longer than at least one cable and allow me to attach this drive one side of the computer when you use it (rather than the…

USB CD/DVD problems

Typing this fails to get this external USB DVD/CD drive to work. I am using Windows7 Professional 2GB and 350GB HD in an Atom branded netbook. I connect both cables (USB and USB to round plug) to the netbook. ready to use. I go to the file menu list and all it shows is my drive (C). When I restart my computer, the boot process hangs during the POST cycle. When I unplug the USB DVD/CD and restart the computer, it boots fine. If I can't get this thing to work, I'm sending it back. The jury has…

Not the best but gets the job done.

I bought this because I got a new computer without a floppy drive. I used it to rip my CDs onto my new computer. It works well if you have to wait an hour for it to work. It took a very long time for the drive to be recognized on my computer and turned on. Maybe it's my computer, but considering it's new it's unlikely. The drive made some pretty scary noises when the disc was spinning and I felt like it was scratching my CDs at times. Luckily this was not the case! But if you have a scratch on…

DIED AFTER ONE YEAR OF DIRECT USE

Played great while it lasted. Plugged in and ran. But now, after very little use (maybe 2 or 3 CDs of music bought from Revain every 4 months or so), it's died. I connected and nothing. No buzz, no green light, nothing! I bought the device in April 2011. It is now December 2013. I would say I have used the device maybe 10 times in total. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED! Now I'm thinking about buying another one because it was so easy to get up and leave or find something else. I don't want to worry about…

One happy camper! in External Components

Let's start from the beginning. I ordered this player along with a mouse on Tuesday evening at 10pm. It was shipped by Phoenix and was at my doorstep here in Vegas within 36 hours with free Super Saver shipping. Never had such fast delivery which is why Revain gets an A+ there. Now I've had this computer for 11 years, a Sony VGC-RB30, and both the DVD and CD players are dead, but I didn't want to buy a new computer just because this computer is still better than most made today computer…

Garbage! Computer components

I agree with other readers, maybe a bit late as I bought 2 devices. I got the same drive a few years ago and they have each worked with decent performance as a DVD player on my iMAC for about 1 year. These models bought last week can hardly perform the DVD menu reading function. I've checked the obvious regarding the power supply current; I use 2 different hubs (USB 2 and USB 3) whose ports supply 900mA each. Using the twin cable method, this is sufficient for drives; But that's not the case…
