It's really my own fault for not researching this further, but for the most part this docking station isn't good. You still have to connect almost the same number of cables when using the dock as you would without, which pretty much defeats the purpose. The only connection between the station and the laptop is via USB, which means you still need to plug in a power cord (and need a power cord wherever you want to connect). Because the display runs over USB, your computer suffers a performance hit if it processes at least part of the rendering through the CPU. On my XPS 12, I noticed noticeable frame drops when watching videos on the docking station, but there are no issues with a direct display connection. I also have USB to HDMI from DisplayLink for my PC which is experiencing a similar performance loss. The only value here is the dock if you don't need to watch videos or run something graphics intensive but also want to connect multiple monitors.
