Wrong design… does not work

I bought the 3 ft length for this product to protect a copper drainage line and the instructions are very confusing as it says that the temperature sensor should be at the end of the heating cable or at the splice with no picture explaining their meaning… so I don’t know if it will work since the bulky round stuff on the cable is next to the power plug and there is no way it can be installed at the end of the pipe and plugged to power at the same time. So I hope, the temperature sensor is at…

Pros
  • Comes pre-assembled, ready for installation – saves you time and hassle.
Cons
  • The product may not have enough insulation to efficiently heat pipes in extremely cold weather

The heat tape saved our water system

Our water pipes are located above ground here in the desert, but we occasionally get temperatures below freezing in the winter. While a number of neighbors had burst water pipes, we never had a problem.

Pros
  • Made from high-quality materials that are designed to last for years.
Cons
  • The product may not be effective in preventing heat loss in insulated pipes or similar settings

Keep sensors away from other cable sections

Do not overlap thermostat sensor with another section. Previous review was very dissatisfied until i learned the cause. Separated sensor from the vicinity of the other cable and all was solved. Kept 300 feet of foam wrapped pex toasty warm

Pros
  • ‎Black
Cons
  • The product may not have a long enough lifespan to justify the initial investment cost

Took care of what the other couldn't!

After a week of frozen pipes with a heated pipe tape that was 'working', but couldn't keep up with the artic blast (10 degrees), I had running water again only 3 hours after applying this heat tape! The current temps are -10 to -30s BEFORE wind chill and I still have running water!Just as easy to install as any other heat tape. Can be covered with insulation, wrapped back on itself, and self regulates the temperature. I may no longer have frozen pipes each year!

Pros
  • Easy to instal and seems to heat real well . Just plug in and run the wire and call it a day.
Cons
  • The product may be more suitable for smaller pipes, making it less practical for larger pipe systems

This thing works great wrapped around a faucet and a hose and water has not frozen up yet trhee days below freezing so far The product may not meet certain safety regulations in certain regions or settings.

Pros
  • Suitable for use on plastic and metal water pipes.( including inlet pipe, drain pipe, sewer , palm tree frost protection etc). Self regulating heating cable output will adjust automatically based on the ambient temperature at each point along the cable.
Cons
  • The product may not meet certain safety regulations in certain regions or settings

Worth the money on my review.

This heating cable is good quality and does what it is supposed to do. Thanks for attention. I am very happy with this product.

Pros
  • Nothing to say. I just works. Completely cured my frozen pipe problem.
Cons
  • The Pre-Assembled 6Ft Self-Regulating Pipe Heating Cable lacks versatility since it only comes in one length

Keeps popping gfci - even when new 15A used

I can't get customer svc to just tell me the power use per foot when down to minus -25C. If I knew that, I could see ifv the issue is just that it's pulling too close to 15A and need to chg the gfci and ckt fuse.frustrating.

Pros
  • Eliminates the need for time-consuming manual heating or insulating methods.
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be efficient enough to prevent water flow disruptions during extreme weather conditions

Working great on my outdoor water hydrant in 20 below weather

Our "Frost Free" Hydrant.didn't turn out as frost free as we hoped. To repair the drain, would be very time consuming. Since a pipe repair had to be done anyway, I put a PCV pipe 4 feet down into the ground aroudn the metal pipe. I dangled this heater cord down into the pipe, wrapped some of the heater around the top of the hydrant and used insulation and insulated tape to wrap it up. It has been below freezing for 2 1/2 months so far, it is 20 below as I am writing this with 30 below…

Pros
  • Operates quietly, without disrupting the peace or tranquility of your home or workplace.
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be effective in preventing water leaks or pipe burst situations in all cases

2nd Year Of Using And It Works Great

I got this for an old lady who had issues with frozen pipes. This was very easy to install and it's kept the pipes from freezing.

Pros
  • Easy to install by wrapping around pipe - had several freezing nights and pipes were kept from freezing
Cons
  • It is not suitable for outdoor use in extreme weather conditions

Doesn’t work - my new review

I bought this for last winter and had it in place for the Texas freeze. It didn’t seem to work then, but we were frequently without power so I wasn’t sure. Now I’m in freezing weather again with full power this time and it is not working. I bought a second different brand heat cord from Walmart and when I touch it I can feel warmth. Anytime I’ve touch this product, it has always been cold. So disappointed and fighting cold hoses.

Pros
  • ‎7.8 ounces
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use in older buildings with outdated plumbing systems

Unlike other brands, this can be criss crossed or doubled up.

I live in an RV full time, and I like water when I want it in the RV. This heat wrap is fantastic it kept the water hose I have from freezing several times, it got to -5° for 3 days and stayed below freezing for 5 days and it worked. I have a flexzilla water hose with one strand of heat it and then put on swimming noodles and wrapped it up in one inch plumbing and electrical tape. NOW A WORD OF CAUTION ! If you ever decide to go with other brands be sure they say (automatic regulating) and that

Pros
  • Pre-assembled, easy to install. Including grounded plug with light, built in thermostat(turn the cable 37F on 50F off) and instructions. 120 volt, 3 watts/ft at 50 degrees F. Protect pipes up to 2" in diameter. Can be used by straight, spiral and overlap.
Cons
  • The installation process may require additional tools or equipment, making it more time-consuming than other heating solutions

Works Great! on my review.

This is super easy to install and operate. I purchased this to keep our chicken's water from freezing during the winter. The temperatures have gotten down in the 20s and we've had freezing rain, snow and sleet. Through it all the HEATIT heating cable has kept the water flowing. With a variety of sizes you should be able to find one that suits your particular application.

Pros
  • I ordered this to keep the ice out of my rain gutter. I’ll know more when we have a lot of snow.
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be resistant to water damage, which can be a problem in certain settings

Flexibility on my review.

The heat cord is a little stiff for wrapping pipe. It does warm well and works well. I like it for wrapping long water pipe. Good quality.

Pros
  • Delivered quickly and works great.
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be durable enough to last for multiple winter seasons

INSTRUCTIONS FOR GARDEN HOSES

I wrapped the 120 ft heat cable around a 100 ft 1/2 " garden hose. I ran it from a back yard, up to the roof of a five story apt. building. First check your your heating cable by taking it indoors then plugging it into an 110v outlet. Uncoil about 4 ft of cable from the thermostat side. Take a bucket or pail and fill it half way with cold water from the frig. then add at least 24 ice cubes. This is to make sure the cable is working. Once the temp. reaches about 35° or lower the thermostat…

Pros
  • Provides reliable and efficient heating for pipes during winter weather conditions.
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be effective in heating pipes with irregular shapes or sizes

Check annually good for me

It stopped working in just 2 years. Make sure you check annually. We found out it wasn't working the we wrong way. Due to the working life, I don't recommend buying this product.

Pros
  • Performed as expected
Cons
  • The installation process may be difficult for those without plumbing experience

Worked as advertised

Worked as advertised. Just installed on 2 RV water supply hoses (25’ & 35’) spiral wound with extra loop at supply connector & where 2 hoses connected. Covered with 1” id x 1/2” thick Pre slit foam insulation. With outside temperatures dropping to 20° to 30° for 4-6 hours nightly with insulation and no heat cable hoses froze every night. With heating cable installed hoses never froze and shut off at approximately 45-50° water temperature. I have used self regulating heat cable for commercial/…

Pros
  • Suitable for a wide range of pipes, including metal and plastic, both indoors and outdoors.
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be suitable for use in older buildings with outdated electrical systems

The heating cable works as expected.

I have a well and the pipes are exposed to the cold. The heating cable wrapped around the pipes works as advertised and the pipes have not frozen when the temperature dropped to 10 degrees.

Pros
  • ‎1
Cons
  • The product may not be efficient enough to be a viable long-term solution for pipe heating needs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good, worked perfectly.

Had a big ice dam at my new house, right over the front door. Chipped it out, then put this in there. Not even a single icicle after that. I rated install at 3 stars not because the manufacturer did anything, but because getting 20 feet up on a ladder to thread stubborn wire around gutter bolts is not exactly easy or safe.

Pros
  • Rough Plumbing
Cons
  • The product may not be efficient enough to be a cost-effective solution for large pipe systems

Saved the day and my marriage

Bought this as my water supply line to my house is laying above ground due to a remodel, in December:( Wrapped it in foam insulation with this tape inside. Works well. Cycles on and off as temperature dictates. Keeps the water line from freezing in 20 degree temps. Also, I threw the whole thing in the freezer for a bit then plugged it in to verify it was working before install. Takes awhile to install correctly.

Pros
  • Specifically designed for easy installation and long-term use.
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use in areas with strict fire safety regulations

Perfect for what it’s intended for

Be carful when selecting one of these, there is a difference between "self regulating” and "automatic”. Do your research. I learned by trial and error. This is intended for water pipes but I wanted it to tuc in between my aluminum sliding door and it’s aluminum track. Normally it fills up with frost and eventually freezes shut. With just a little ingenuity to position the thermostat, this worked great.

Pros
  • Pipe Heat Cables
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be as reliable as other pipe heating solutions on the market
