Bitcoin Core version 0.18.0 is now available!
This is a new major version release, including new features, various bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as updated translations.
Newly encrypted wallets will no longer require restarting the software. Instead such wallets will be completely unloaded and reloaded to achieve the same effect.
A sub-project of Bitcoin Core now provides Hardware Wallet Interaction (HWI) scripts that allow command-line users to use several popular hardware key management devices with Bitcoin Core.
This release changes the Random Number Generator (RNG) used from OpenSSL to Bitcoin Core’s own implementation, although entropy gathered by Bitcoin Core is fed out to OpenSSL and then read back in when the program needs strong randomness.
