Review on πŸ“€ Enhanced SEO: Buffalo MediaStation DVSM-PC58U2VB 8X Portable DVD Writer by Kevin Bucher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pretty cheap but good value

This is exactly what I wanted despite being cheap and fragile. My internal DVD rewriter/player no longer recognizes CDs and DVDs. I got this as a replacement. So simple, just plug in with a USB cable, very easy to install (I still have Windows Vista) and works great from DVD and CD. So far so good and I've had it for a few months now. However, it is important to note that the cables attached to the drive are VERY short (5-8 inches), making positioning difficult. Also, my Windows Media Player didn't auto-detect the device at first when I tried to burn some CDs and I had to fiddle around with it for it to be recognized. I think the I-tunes player caught it, which caused the Windows Media Player. Another thing is that in very rare cases the player won't load DVD. This literally only happened 3 times out of 30, but I fixed the issue each time by restarting my computer. The disc usually seems difficult to eject and can be a bit noisy, but not a problem when playing DVDs. I personally don't hear it. However, I think that part of the difficulty in "picking up" a hard drive on rare occasions is related to my laptop (it has a lot of glitches) and I don't think it's just the player. Also, I haven't tried burning a DVD, so I can't comment on that. Overall worth the money and I'm definitely satisfied. It's working fine so far, but will be updated if something goes wrong.
