This is a winner!: CD and DVD drives

Very good machine; That's exactly what I wanted. It's quiet, recognized instantly by my Lenovo laptop, works great with just a single USB cable on my Windows 7 system, it's inexpensive, and I like the fact that the blue light indicates proper power consumption with the USB cable displays is clear and simple. see, but not too bright or obtrusive. A few considerations though: 1. This device is primarily designed for laptops. The short cable is not suitable for desktop computers because the length of the cable that comes with the device is not long enough to connect it to a desk via the USB ports on the back or front of most cases. (However, see the note on cables below.) 2. Much has been written about the length of the cables that come with this drive. I personally like that the cables are included, they are short and not in the way, especially as I bought this drive instead of my laptop's built-in DVD drive to conserve it. But for those who need a longer cable, the T-cable system that comes with this drive IS DETACHABLE. The T-piece of a two-cable system connects to a standard USB micro connector, so any standard USB cable with a micro connector on the end will work if your system can control the drive with a single cable. Simply disconnect the two cables on the side/bottom of the drive and pull out the T-connector. There you will see a Micro-USB connector. Just plug in a longer standard USB cable and you're done.3. As another reviewer noted, the description of this disc on AMAZON is misleading. You will NOT receive a Power DVD from Cyberlink! You get Power2Go from Cyberlink, which I like. But it's not true that Revane keeps raising false expectations. Had I not read a certain false advertising warning in the review, I would have been disappointed and annoyed to discover that the bundled software package did not include a Power DVD. (Power DVD used to be more important. Now that WMP can easily handle DVDs, I just use WMP and don't even bother with anything else. However, I find Power2Go very useful and I'm glad it's not through Revain's false advertising fooled on the main page of this drive when it comes to Power DVD software.)4. Unlike the other browsers, I had no trouble opening the drive by pressing the eject button. Of course, it's black on black, so it can be a bit difficult to combine. But I have more trouble finding the button on the Lenovo built-in drive than this one.5. (Minor note) As another reviewer noted, the top of this device is definitely a fingerprint magnet. But I don't really care. This is a DVD drive, not a diamond ring. :o) Update 01/14/14: I use this drive A LOT - I copy TV series almost daily to have backups in case something happens to my DVDs. He was never absent. And every time I use it, I'm glad I use it instead of the built-in DVD burner. For the price, this little one just can't be beat.
