Great scanner, but installation of Mac software problematic

This scanner makes excellent quality scans, is fast, and looks nice on the desktop. I also like that it is USB powered and does not require separate power. However, if you are a Mac owner running OS Sierra, you may have difficulty with the software installer. I found that it would not run, but would repeatedly freeze giving me a "0% progress" graph bar and go no further. If you have this problem, here is how I solved it: The installation cd gives you a link to go download the driver. After downloading and double-clicking the disk image, you will see the "EPSON.app" installer. Ignore it, and scroll on down to the "Common" folder, then run the application inside the EPSON scan folder. That should install the driver correctly.I tried contacting Epson support regarding the non-functional installer, and did get a response, but it was generic and not helpful. (I was told to uninstall the software and reinstall—a strange response since I had stated that the problem was that the software couldn't be installed to begin with.) I was also told that the problem was probably that I had connected the USB cable before trying to install—I hadn't, because I had seen in the Quick Start Guide that it says clearly not to do that. When installed, the software has a very dated, mid-90's look, appearing virtually the same as the Epson scanner software I had installed approximately 20 years ago. However, it does work well, so I have no real complaints. I just wish Epson would put more resources into Mac software and customer assistance for Mac users. So in general, great scanner, but Epson could put more effort into improving their Mac software.

Pros
  • Epson Perfection V19 boasts a 4800 dpi optical resolution that captures every detail with precision, producing clear and sharp scans of documents and photos
Cons
  • The scanner's startup time is slower compared to other models, making it less efficient for quick scanning tasks
