What is Conflux Network

Conflux Network is a public layer-1 blockchain that orders blocks in a Tree-Graph structure, with proof-of-work miners producing blocks and proof-of-stake nodes finalising them. Since the 2022 Hydra upgrade it has two spaces: the native Core Space and the Ethereum-compatible eSpace. Its native coin CFX pays fees, storage collateral and staking.

Network and consensus

Network and consensus — Conflux Network
ParameterDetails
TypePublic layer-1 blockchain with a Tree-Graph (DAG) ledger
ConsensusHybrid: PoW miners produce and order blocks (GHAST), PoS nodes sign pivot blocks to finalise them
ThroughputUp to 3,000 transactions per second, per the project
Smart contractsCore Space (Conflux format, fee sponsorship) and eSpace (Ethereum-compatible, unchanged Ethereum contracts)
Programming languageNode client written in Rust (conflux-rust, GPL-3.0)

Supply and issuance

Supply and issuance — Conflux Network
ParameterDetails
Initial distribution5 billion CFX pre-mined at genesis: 40% ecosystem fund, 36% genesis team, 12% private investors, 8% community fund, 4% foundation
IssuanceNew CFX minted per PoW block; about 1 CFX per block as of July 2024, set by DAO vote
Staking rewardsPoS validators earn interest on staked CFX at a DAO-set rate
Fee burnPart of each transaction base fee and part of sponsored storage collateral are burned

What CFX is used for

Who develops and governs Conflux Network

Developer
Conflux Foundation and the founding team build the technology and operate the network
Founders
Genesis team includes the IIIS team, Conflux Foundation employees and advisors
Governance
DAO votes with locked CFX; 1 vote per CFX locked over a year, less for shorter locks
Open source
Yes; conflux-rust on GitHub under GPL-3.0; protocol changes go through CIPs

Questions and answers

What is Conflux Network?

Conflux is a layer-1 blockchain with a Tree-Graph ledger and hybrid PoW/PoS consensus. Its native coin is CFX.

What is Conflux eSpace?

eSpace is an Ethereum-compatible space added in the 2022 Hydra upgrade; Ethereum contracts and tools work there without changes.

What was the initial supply of CFX?

The genesis block pre-mined 5 billion CFX. New CFX is issued per PoW block and as PoS interest, while part of fees is burned.

How is Conflux governed?

CFX holders lock tokens to get voting rights in a DAO that sets block rewards, interest and burn parameters.

How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
