In the Bitcoin network, each block is processed in 10 minutes. Block processing times in the Litecoin network are determined as 2.5 minutes. Transfers on the Bitcoin network, which take long and with high transaction fees, can be provided faster and cheaper with Litecoin.
Another technical detail that separates Litecoin from Bitcoin is; Litecoin uses the Scrypt algorithm while Bitcoin uses the algorithm named SHA-256. This algorithm, which is easier to calculate and lighter in terms of workload, provides faster confirmation of Litecoin transactions. The concern that the speed advantage may lead to weaknesses on the security side has not been experienced yet.
