Pros
- It anonymizes the identity of people and the amount of the transaction. The miners only receive a hash produced from a zero-knowledge proof that is only verified if the person sending the transaction has enough and is not double spending.
Cons
- Efficient Zero-knowledge proofs require an initial set-up that generates a private key for the system. Zcash claims to have destroyed that private key. However, if that private key exists then it can be used to falsify transactions ruining the system.
