Overheating showing wrong resolution

It works and charges my laptop with no problems and all ports work fine. I turn off the 1080p monitor, 1440p works fine. So in a dual monitor configuration, a maximum of 1080p is supported for both. The permission is important to me, so I returned it. The device also gets hot. Being metal this may be normal but in the long run it is a problem.
