This device worked great to avoid high international roaming charges during a recent trip to Holland. After landing, I bought a Lebara SIM for 10 euros, which gave me 1 gigabyte of data for 30 days. Everywhere I went with my Samsung S3, I received reliable 3G data on the KPN network. I have only used Skype to make and receive calls using the Skype for Android app. My US calls have always been better than regular cell phone quality. I measured voice usage at 19 megabytes per hour. Thus, one gigabyte of data is enough for about 50 hours of Skype calls. You can buy 1GB top-up codes in stores worldwide. I spent $76 for a Huawei MiFi device + $26 for 2GB of Lebara data = $101 for a 2 week trip. That's less than what I would pay for Wi-Fi at the hotels I've stayed in and the convention I've attended. PLUS I had wifi everywhere to make/take calls and use my laptop. Lebara is now in 10 countries.
