Making sauerkraut at home just got a whole lot easier with these weights. I have several 64 ounce jars and the jar weights fit perfectly. I chop up a cabbage, a carrot or two with some spices and then put a round cabbage leaf on top of everything as a floating trap with a glass weight. This fills the jar with enough room for about two inches of brine on top and one inch of air space. It used to be so tedious trying to improvise with weights using the items you already had that were inappropriate and messy, but now it's foolproof! Update: I just finished my first batch of sauerkraut and wanted to report that there was no problem removing the batch with my fingers. The handle fits well in the hand.
