Review on πŸ› οΈ CO Z Pro Aluminum Expander Deburring Tool by Chris Edgerton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A handy tool to save money and reduce potential sources of error.

Tested the tool well, make sure to twist and squeeze the tube slightly after flaring, this will ensure a good even flare of the fitting. Even a small napkin of mineral oil will extend the life and lengthen the tool. I tested three sizes, all fit perfectly, comparable to store bought unions. I bought this particular tool based on the recommendation of the Youtube channel (ACSERVICETECH). Each of the connections I made were solder/weld tested (plumbing) and oxy-fuel soldered (AC pressure lines). The tool worked great for everyone. The advantage of these tools is that not only do you not have to buy fittings, you also have less soldering/soldering to do. Instead of having two ports on one [pipe - port - port - port - pipe] port, you now have only one (pipe - port - extended pipe). This eliminates flaws and leaks. Everything about the box, tooling, fit and finish was great. I am correcting my original review, bottom left for reasons of transparency. The seller replaced the item and the new one I received is perfect. I mentioned that the QC label was not filled out, it was noted on the new one. Also, the tool worked differently. When one of the forming punches was on the original tool, the handles closed completely, as if the tool had no punch. On replacement, if the tool had a matrix, the handles would only half close. I suspect the internal stop was defective or the tool was missing. I haven't messed with the set screw on the new one, but I suspect it's related to the problem. So, to be 100% clear, I'm giving this tool a perfect score now. - EDIT with new info above - Tool fit and finish looks ok but end result is unusable. I have tested three pipe sizes that I usually use: 3/8", 3/4" and 1". Tooling fittings on a pre-made joint and the fit is very variable. You can see in the pictures the gap left the tool makes sweating, soldering or soldering impossible as the two metals are too far apart for the filler material to flow into the joint. this was skipped. even if everything looks like the pictures the mark on the tool i die Received brand is different from the brand on the product listing. I've seen this before with universal tools, but such a product brand change on import tools, in my experience, usually means a quality change. Maybe that's the case here. New brand DSZH vs. CO-Z are listed above There is what looks like a set screw tool on the back of t which, ka thought it might do a size adjustment solution, although the instructions say nothing about what the screw does. I've fiddled around with it a bit and haven't found any change to the function. In case the pictures of the crack aren't clear enough, I've included snapshots taken with a micrometer showing the difference. I also tried soldering and steaming the sleeve made with the tool but to no avail. And yes, you just couldn't unroll the hose all the way and inspect, but that's a waste of time and not worth using a tool.
