If you hold it like a broom and expect it to work like a broom (ie throwing away crumbs and dust and you need something else to pick it up off the floor), your expectations are realistic. It's not hard work. I usually go around with a vacuum and vacuum up everything I see, then use Swiffer Swiffer to sweep up the remaining small materials like dust or whatever I missed the first time, and then collect whatever I picked up with a handheld vacuum have. I have two Swiffer sweepers for 2500 square feet of laminate flooring. These cloths do not work well on rough or semi-rough surfaces as they are very light/fine and can snag. If you're going for a 'wet' Swiffer, I recommend the heavy-duty Swiffer Wet Jet rather than investing in those lightweight mop cloths. They just don't perform well compared to wet jet. On the downside, even the Wet Jet doesn't get floors as clean as I'd like, and I usually have to hand wash dirtier rooms like the kitchen and bathroom -- around the trim, appliances, toilets, and sinks.
