Do you really need a driver?

Extremely disappointed. Audacity is great and I've been using it for about 10 years now. I have several external devices that my iMac and Audacity can recognize without plug and play drivers. (Choose File > Open, scroll down to Location, and there's an icon that says "NO NAME" next to it.) No problem. Not so with this V.TOP Capture Card. Undetectable. I even pressed the record button just for fun without finding the device. zero line. I bought this product to digitize old tapes and records. By the way: Audacity has a detailed and simple guide on how to digitize vinyl and cassette and burn it to CD. You can learn a lot about analog and digital devices just by reading the Audacity guide. I might be missing something, but my guess is that this Plug and Play V.TOP capture board actually needs a driver. I'm tired of racking my brains. I'm returning it and will hit the ball by spending more on a real A/D interface device. I'm looking at a Behringer U-Control UCA202 with RCA to USB. Just hope it really is "plug and play". Clicked the star because it is required to submit the review. Doesn't deserve stars.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Useless features
