iMac 27 inch Late 2012. Increased from 16 to 32 GB. It was worth it

I spent days looking for options like an SSD to replace my hard drive or even adding an mSATA SSD. Late 2012 models don't benefit from the latter option at all. Price wise these options were roughly equivalent to 32GB of RAM but my biggest concern was having to remove the screen to upgrade on other routes taking time like download speeds and that Loading applications hasn't changed noticeably, switching between applications, opening many applications, watching videos and browsing, working in Excel and even waking up from sleep mode have improved significantly. The memory used and the cache file size are within 32 GB while previously exceeded and required disk access. The next logical upgrade would be to replace the HDD with an SSD, but I think I can avoid that until I see an issue with the HDD.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
