It seemed ideal for sharpening things at work or in remote locations where you don't have all your usual tools, electricity, etc. I've noticed some complaints about this. I don't have such a problem with it. To test this, I sharpened a lawnmower blade. It worked. Obviously a bit more work than an electric grinder. I did this to test feasibility. I believe it will work in all these weird cases. It's small enough to fit in your tool bag and use just in case.
