I don't know much about car repairs. I'm the person who makes the noise the car makes when I take it to the mechanic. I'm trying my best to learn car maintenance but to be honest I'm not very good at it. If I can really fix something, I'm very proud of myself. I received this item and tried to put it in the small hole where the previous one fell out. I used my car so I assume what I had to replace was the original. The internet video wasn't very helpful on how to replace it or where it actually goes, so I tried a lot to figure it out, which is neither fun nor easy in the Florida summer heat. The package said it worked for my 2002 Honda Civic, but no matter how hard I tried to get the pointy white-coded thing into the metal hole to push the plastic thing in so the brake lights wouldn't light up, I couldn't . do not do it. I'm not sure if it's because I put it on the wrong way round, or if I was in the wrong body position to use my little upper body strength properly, or because the little white thing was too big to properly enter the hole and stay there. Luckily I had to take the car to the workshop for service and a service technician replaced it. Note for those who are clueless like me: 1) If you're reading this, you've probably figured out that this part causes your rear brake lights to come on even when your car is completely off. If you're like me and don't know anything about auto repair, I highly recommend re-taping and re-attaching the old part to hold the little plastic button down until you can replace it to drain your battery. I'm going to die. 2) If like me you don't know where that little plastic button is (it's based on my Honda), remove the lower plastic piece under the steering wheel. If you pull everything out, you'll likely find pieces that look like the white part of this set. I have no idea about the black figure. Apply the brake with your hand and look behind the stick attached to the brake pedal and you will see a small white button and there is a hole in the stick attached to the brake shoe. This is where the little white part in this set pushes the little white button. So if you can glue the old one back and put it in place until you get the part or find someone with more clues to fix it, you can fix it here. 3) Anyone with connections in the auto industry please advise that this part will likely need to be metal and welded to the brake pedal handle to depress the little button because a bit of plastic won't win in the Florida heat and there are a lot People with dead batteries because the light stays on and turns it off, which isn't cool because it can happen if you're late for work.
