Assembly was easy after a false start caused by not reading the instructions on the first try. Although my kitty loves the plush material, I am skeptical because a few times when it gets wet it takes a long time to dry. As it is on my enclosed patio this can be an issue when it rains, which is a common occurrence. My kitten was about two months old when it arrived. He would not approach him except to satisfy his curiosity about what had mysteriously appeared in his territory. When he grew to five pounds ten weeks later, he began using it and sleeping on the lower and middle platforms. Now and then he hides his head, but he doesn't care, not even the top platform. But he LOVES scratching the scratching posts and attacking the fluffy ball. Despite his ferocious actions and weight, he has yet to cut down a tree, although he grows too tall to stretch out in the middle row. It's definitely for kittens and although mine will outgrow it soon I think it's money well spent.
