We are currently working on a second pot as the first was scratched into the sky the first night it arrived. We literally used it to heat up some corn tortillas and all we did was place them on one side in the pan for about 30-45 seconds, then flip them to the other side and do the same . As you move them around the pan, notice CAREFULLY when we lifted the tortillas low and lo and behold, there were scratches all over the surface. At first we couldn't believe our eyes and said it was impossible, so we waited for the pan to cool to room temperature and started cleaning it with a non-abrasive sponge, but to our dismay those pathetic scratches were still there. Definitely not a pleasant sight after ONE use considering we paid close to $50 for this pan! So we returned it as defective because we didn't think we did anything wrong. We didn't even use the dishes, we turned them by hand. Well the return was accepted and we decided to get a replacement of the same frying pan thinking it was an accident and maybe something was wrong with THIS frying pan. We got our replacement about a week later and we used it to boil eggs etc and everything was great BEFORE using it to boil dolls over the weekend. Remember that the dolls are made from SOFT masa dough. All we did was heat some oil in a frying pan and fry them on each side until they were crispy on the outside, but it was nowhere near what you would think to scratch the frying pan. Unbelievable. We removed the food when it was done and, you guessed it, a lot of scratches. Deeper this time, you can feel the comb with your finger as you run it over the scratch and the finish (non-stick) comes off already in the middle. Yes, this pan has only ever been heated on medium heat and never used on high heat. It just wasn't necessary as the medium setting worked pretty well and to be honest it's the setting we use most of the time as while learning how to cook properly we found that it could warp some pans etc etc, when it's too hot. All in all we are also shipping this second pan, this time for a full refund. We are very disappointed with this OXO pan and will happily spend our money elsewhere. Such a shame because when the pan arrives it is so nicely packaged and the glitter and shimmer on this pan is so elegant and when you look at it it looks like a good professional pan but how is it worth anything when you look at it gotta be scared she itches like that?!? I could understand if we were using metal utensils/trying to cook something rough, but I never anticipated the turnout we had. Hope this helps others and good luck if you buy this pan. Apparently, we are talking about what can and cannot be cooked in it.
