Review on Brondell Cypress Certified Countertop Filter by Rip Twin

good water. for undercounter and countertop filtration

I work in a high rise building and we've had a few problems with bottled water deliveries. The water in our kitchen has neither taste nor smell. It's Chicago tap water, pretty good, but because it runs through our building, the water isn't very good. I checked the options. Reverse osmosis filters eliminate TDS (total dissolved solids) - good or bad very fine particles in your water, but they are also: (1) waste water; (2) Under sink installation required; (3) costs $400 or more for original equipment plus regular filter changes; (4) remove beneficial minerals that occur naturally in water. I saw this article and it makes installing and replacing filters easy. I have understood. I didn't know they make 3 stage table water filters. Very very easy to install. I also bought test strips that test 14 different water properties, a water meter, and tested tap water versus filtered and bottled water. All 3 tested in the good drinking water area. So the problem was mainly the taste and smell. This filter took some rough water - potable but with a slightly chemical taste and smell - and turned it into tasteless and odorless water that I love to drink and use to drink. Make coffee. This filter reduces TDS ppm (parts per million) from 164 to 160, and bottled water is 68. EPA drinking water is less than 500, so we have pretty good water here. Now I can save about $400 a year by not having to pay for monthly maintenance which has left us without water 4 times in the last 5 months. .I like it. Cheaper than bottled water, no hassle, good water. What's not to like?

Pros
  • CONTINUOUS WATER FILTRATION: water is supplied continuously at the push of a button, with no waste water like in sophisticated reverse osmosis systems
Cons
  • Available in white only
