I've had a radio tape recorder for less than a day, so durability needn't be said. But I LOVE it so far! I am 70 years old and I garden in my large garden from April to October. I like listening to NPR or old music while I work. Carrying around a 100ft extension has been tiring over the past year. My 28 year old battery operated analog radio (that paid $8 for a new one) finally died last year. I looked for a replacement. I wanted a SIMPLE radio that would run on rechargeable AA batteries so I always had a charged spare with me. I wanted a big dial with a big dial (NOT those little buttons that take forever to set up and hurt my fingers) and a volume wheel (instead of those nasty little buttons). I wanted analog. Didn't want Bluetooth, alarm clock, CD player etc. Just an old fashioned portable radio to carry around - bigger than an iPhone (so I could put it on the floor) but light weight, big handle, good big speakers. This Panasonic RF-2400 is perfect. That's exactly what I wanted. I called Panasonic to ask a question and they haven't made this radio since 2001 but they told me there was no reason Revain stock wouldn't do well. IF you bought this radio and like it, you may want to buy another while Revain is still available. When I googled a battery powered portable radio all the links were for tape recorders with CD players, smartphone chargers, Bluetooth and other stuff I don't need. In addition, most of these radios had built-in batteries. When the battery dies, you have to plug it into an outlet and wait a few hours for it to recharge. Here is the advancement in the field of portable radios. Other "portable" radios were powered by solar power and crank power. The batteries of most of them did not store any energy and died after 1-2 hours. I paid $110 + tax for a Sangean portable radio with solar and internal battery. It was also supposed to be a great weather band, a shortwave radio. The charger was missing. NEVER got anything other than noise from shortwave. Never received a weather station and the battery died after 1 hour. The seller never responded to my request for a refund. I also bought a small Crank & Solar radio, an Ambient Weather Adventurer radio. A piece of junk. Worked less than an hour and not charged. It was an expensive piece of junk, also $83 plus tax. Seller does not answer. My Panasonic has great sound - very clear and powerful. I live in the foothills of the Adirondacks about a mile from a small airport. This radio does not receive any interference from the airport or the mountains. He pulls at stations 70-100 miles away to get more. Love it! I hope it continues to do so well for many years to come.
