Bigger screen and safer wifi (finally!)

***Updated 1/22/11*** I have confirmed that the wifi issue is definitely caused by my FiOS router DSiXL. Since I replaced the router with this model: http://www.amazon.com/Netgear-Wireless-Gigabit-Router-WNDR3700/dp/B002HWRJY4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295721483&sr=8-1 I don't have any more connection problems. The DSi always connects flawlessly. The large screen of the Nintendo DSi XL not only gives you more space to play, but also a larger canvas when drawing in Flipnotes. Additional benefits of the DSi include dual cameras, improved Wi-Fi (finally WPA compatible! I hate and don't use WEP, so our previous DSi were useless for Wi-Fi), and downloadable content. Overall the game is fun and my kids love downloading games and notes. They also love creating and uploading their own Flipnotes. The only thing that bothers me about the DSi XL is the miserable WLAN performance. I have two DSi XL units and both have very poor Wi-Fi connectivity at best. It usually takes multiple attempts to connect to the internet when trying to get online. I've been waiting ages for DS WPA compatibility so I'm glad to finally get some Wi-Fi, but it's annoying. To be honest I've used what is probably the worst router in the world, Actiontec, with Verizon FiOS. Apple device users and early iPad users (including yours) are already very familiar with this lemony router's pathetic performance and compatibility. So I'm not going to blame Wi-Fi issues solely on Nintendo, at least not yet. However, my iPad and several generations of iPods now work fine with this router, so I'm hoping Nintendo can handle firmware updates as quickly as Apple. I've already run all available updates on the DSi so hopefully a firmware fix will come out soon. However, note that if you have an Actiontec router, you may also have problems.
