WOW! I was so excited they popped up so I could use them in my camping hammock. Right out of the box the lights (strong, handy Luminoodle color - 5ft color changing LED strings) look and feel pretty good, until you plug them into a battery, that would be bad. First you turn it on and the light comes on. In your head you're thinking "YES, that's cool!" then you dim the lights and suddenly you're very frustrated, you hear this very high-pitched sound or almost a scream, like a noise coming from somewhere. These are lights. This is where they connect to the battery. Basically when you use almost all other modes and colors and dimming in general the battery starts playing that tone at different frequencies some louder some not so loud, awful no matter how you look at it. You can't expect to use them in the wild where all is quiet and all you hear is this crazy noise all night. seems to be making this noise(s). The voltage ranges from 5.0V to 5.11V. According to my information, the sound is due to too high voltage, the sound always occurs when the voltage is above 5.0V. The backlit remote worked without it for the first 5 minutes Having trouble and then suddenly stopped working, however you do see light on the remote flash when the buttons are pressed so I'm not sure what's wrong with that. Finally, I've seen in some other reviews that you can't leave them connected to the battery because the light will drain them. Well, it's enough to test this with a USB power tester with the lights off, they're still drawing power from the battery. These lights drain your battery if you leave them on all the time. In fact, these lights are fraught with problems, which is very unfortunate. I really, really, really wanted these lights to be AMAZING, but alas, they are awful (junk). I would not recommend them to anyone unless they have had an overhaul. Fingers crossed for the updated version. Send them back 100%. Do not buy!
