I have this and put it in our rack. As with any other tie, I didn't notice anything. I really liked that it had a spring as it was softer for my dog who is learning not to run at strangers or vans. After just a few months, the plastic coating has completely torn and partially fallen off. The metal inside was also twisted to the point of becoming dangerous and almost unusable. I don't know if there's a temperature limit for this thing or something, but watch out for cracks and stop when you see it. Everything was great until it started cracking. I love spring, the length was just what I was looking for and it kept my dog in the garden.
