This is very easy to get used to. HOWEVER, be extremely careful when removing the hoop to insert a new bobbin or when cutting the appliqué. If you grab it wrong, the top magnet ring will easily slip off and your project will be ruined. If you're careful and cautious and just grab the bottom hoop, being careful not to push or pull the top one when taking it off or putting it back on, it works like a charm. I had some issues with the needle hitting the right side of the hoop when embroidering, causing the needle to disengage and the needle to fall out. Now I just stop and check my needle regularly while stitching the right side. I actually returned this 5x7 and bought a 6x10 which is also holding up very well. These tires have a few design flaws (mentioned above), but nothing that careful use can't fix. I recommend this tire.
