Last winter while using my snow thrower, I found some rocks I didn't want and broke my snow thrower's drive chain as a result. I could buy a replacement from the dealer for $50 or have it made with Koch parts. I decided to take the last option. Since then I have had no more problems with my drive chain and still have spares should the need arise. These roller chain connecting links are very easy to use and very durable. Get some of these! If you have a #40 chain, it's only a matter of time before you need a new connector!
