Review on πŸ”§ High Precision LaserJamb ProCarpenter PMS25 Standard Measure: Accurate and Efficient Tools for Professional Carpenters by Jason Camarillo

If only it wasn't so hard to read

I bought this because I love erasable notebooks, I've been making my own for years. Great feature. The brake works well, feels good in the hand. Many roulette wheels don't have decent brakes, it's a specific type, but the ProCarpenter works. However, my problem is that I can't read it fast because I'm used to it too. I gave it to a carpenter here in Mexico while we were checking some rough measurements (everyone here has standard/metric tapes) but he couldn't figure it out so we dropped everything while we went looking for a regular tape. I can use it, but I have to remember every time that this is about millimeters, not meters and centimeters, and that I should go back and look for the red millimeter number that says every 100mm, but I need around zero removed to get the reading. The inch scale is a bit simpler, better than the worst in this category, but still not very good in my opinion. Other moths seem to like the scale shown this way, but for this builder who has been using mostly Stanleys, Lufkins and Komelon, this FastCap is just too confusing and prone to misreading. I know it's probably just me, but I, I kind of want to throw it away.

Pros
  • standard and metric rules
Cons
  • unreliable
