The magnets on the back are quite strong and hold the hoist or mild steel very well. I love the locking switch that includes the leveling feature. The green laser is clearly visible in low light but almost impossible to see in full light, but again the laser is not visible in full light. For the money it's worth the only downside is the inability to align the laser with the base plate for straight lines, it takes a bit of measurement to get it right, I put a mark on the base to help with straight lines easier to do.
