After borrowing my wife's Garmin Nuvi 1390LMT I decided to buy my own. I got the model 57 first and quickly sent it back because the screen faded too much in the sun. This one is better in every way, but I'm wondering why Garmin removed the ability to search by zip code. It was much better than printing city names. The next problem is that if you don't add a memory chip, the entire US map won't load. A Google search will tell you that finding places outside of your local tri-state region is a challenge. Even now, after the excellent Garmin technical support explained everything in detail, I make the same mistake - because the procedure is inconvenient for the user. Another oddity is that the battery only lasts about an hour, so you'll have to leave it plugged in and be prepared to see the AC charge indicator show an odd icon even when charging normally. My device broke and it took a night before it could be used. The technician says this is normal. Everything is fine after charging, and it finds satellites faster than 1390. Among other things, this is a very good device.
