Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Logitech Harmony Adapter for PlayStation 3 - Discontinued by Manufacturer: A Must-Have Accessory by Jermaine Shuster

Revainrating 5 out of 5

fifty dollars? For real?

I love the Logitech Harmony universal controllers, they are just fantastic. Being able to program them on a computer with full text recognition (being able to type in "Playstation 3" and let the program figure out what I mean instead of trying to type in an archaic four-digit code) , is just an amazing way to deal with the nightmare of programming. And to be able to press one button to turn on and off everything I need is amazing. Of course, the Playstation 3 doesn't use infrared like everyone else in the world. Missing Bluetooth. The remote control is not suitable for this. And if you want a real PS3 remote you'll have to shell out about $40 and then you've got two remotes again. I originally tried the Nyko remote, which was only $15, and used a USB dongle to convert IR commands to "controller codes". It worked somehow. I was able to use the Harmony remote to control it, but the button layout was really quite wonky (and while I would have been able to fix it, I never got it right) and there was no way to turn the PS3 on . discourage you from using this system. So I broke down and bought this. Am I happy with it? Oh yeah. Now I can control my PS3 with the Harmony remote and all the buttons do what they are supposed to do and I can turn the PS3 on and off. Let's be serious. That thing cost me $50? A genuine Sony remote costs less than $25 and is a full Bluetooth remote. It's just a power adapter, an IR receiver, and a Bluetooth radio, and it only has one button (and that's for syncing). This item shouldn't cost more than $25. But was it worth it? Yes, still, I think that was it. I was still using the gift vouchers accumulated in my Revain Visa. ;)
