Can't find a product I need to buy just because I chose the wrong pet door? I don't think it's fair, that's why I'm giving it 4 stars. The door is junk and I regret putting it in, but it's inside and I have to take care of it. My dog nibbles on doors so here I am replacing another one that fits and does what it was designed to do which is replace the flap on a door I regret installing. This time I decided to buy thin aluminum. (8"), cut it to the width of the door, drill and rivet the plastic of this replacement latch - one side was enough. Everything works great so far. Plastic can't grab it and aluminum is awkward to chew on. I have this with me I've made both sashes and they work well. The flaps still work if you only put about 8" of metal on the bottom - they swing and "snap" with magnets. Well. I used rivets as when you put them in- and getting out are a bit slippery.The screw plate on the door is awful and it takes a while to get the screws in place and the door adjusted to work with the magnets but it is doable.
