I was struggling to fix things to keep my dog from falling out of bed again so it dawned on me one day that I use this for my kids of course it would work for mine 10# senior blind and deaf dog. My bed is very high and our 16 year old fluffy toddler has been sleeping in our bed since he was 6 weeks old when he went blind he started falling out of bed. I tried to make him a bed next to me on the floor but he was devastated, he walked the hall all night and he couldn't, I just couldn't do this to him. After trying pillows and boards it just didn't work that ugly and I didn't sleep because I was still so desperate to think of another option that popped into my head when using this for my kids , and it's been great for them because it's good. It's been wonderful for my furry child, saving him from falling and risking his life (at his age, surgery isn't good for her) or avoiding broken bones. He of course got stuck between the mattress and the railing (remember he's a tiny 10) and yelled to let me know he's needed help twice already, which is a lot better than falling on the floor. That certainly calmed me down and saved him from injury and I fell asleep again.
