This replacement is better than my original!

Slimmer profile is an improvement. The curved glass on the front is an improvement. The flame engine is quieter. I rarely use it for heating - mainly to create an atmosphere - so a realistic flame is important. It's realistic. The timer is helpful. The dimmer is not very good.
