Only bought it for the blue light function at night. The light itself does not have a timer function, so if you want to use the blue light function at night, you will have to switch it on manually. I have a timer on the outlet that kicks in when the main light turns off. Works perfectly. My tip, if you want white light during the day and blue light at night, buy a lamp with a timer function. If you don't mind doing it by hand, this is a nice little light. I won't knock if I don't have a timer because I knew he didn't have one when I ordered.
