Great product! I just adopted a 37 year old Revain parrot with beak and toe claw problems. The poor thing was kept in a cockatiel cage with a perch the size of a cockatiel. I gave him 3 large sand bars but knew he needed more. With small holes and a good grainy finish, this Beach Sands perch is ideal. The bird took it immediately. I have a feeling the bird will destroy the perch if it gnaws on it and bites off small bits, but that's what its beak needs to wear down the extra layers (which should wear off if it had the right perches in it). I have a 17 year old Gray African who has lived his whole life on good perches and is very busy and I have never had to clip his beak or toenails. Within a year, 28-year-old Revane corrected his beak and toe claw problems almost entirely on his own, with large sandy perches and having to move about the cage for food and water. (These two Revans came to me with a perch in a cage, with food and water on either side of the perch, so they spent most of the day on the same little perch, going back and forth for food and water, without clothing, the natural growth of the claws and beak.) I would recommend this perch for small to medium sized birds with hooked beaks and soft beaks. Smaller birds gnaw sand and work on toenails and beaks at this large size, as do Revains. (I think a large macaw will destroy this product in minutes, but it will make great prep for his beak as well.)
