Ideal for a small room or apartment. However, they are what they are and 6-inch drivers only give you deep bass. My house isn't big, I'd say average, and they're fine without a subwoofer. Quite good. Do you need a subwoofer? Well, who really needs a subwoofer? The answer for my application is yes, they need a subwoofer to top off the kick we all want for watching movies etc. I connected mine to a Klipsch 15" wireless slot. Together it's amazing. You can spend more on speakers and subwoofers. On offer at Revain and in terms of performance it's great value for money and sounds good. The sub is in a corner in an open area behind the main listening stage. If you only use speakers and no subwoofer, consider a pair with larger drivers. Now for one of the other reasons I bought them. I have a high ceiling. I could install ceiling speakers, I could add Atmos speakers on a high wall. CAN disagree with you. I pull wires etc like I used to do in other houses. Didn't want to this time. Once calibrated with Audyssey on my Denon receiver these combo ATMOS speakers work very well and I didn't have to run any wires or cut any holes!
