Dangerously effective

I worked as a union butcher at a hog slaughterhouse for a year to pay for college and I learned about knives and slicing and sharpening. I've always preferred a whetstone, but I've found one that works just as well, much faster and safer. This device can very easily and safely create a dangerous sharp edge on a blade. A heavy glove (not industrial like a factory but good enough for a kitchen) is designed for your hand when holding the device on a table. The sharpener's design is outstanding, as the handle allows control of the V-shaped sharpening tips, which range from coarse to fine. You guide the blade away from the action with your gloved hand through the sharpening V-shapes. You would be making a terrible mistake to cut yourself with this tool, especially if you were wearing the heavy glove that comes with it. I would like to warn new users to be careful the first few times you sharpen a blade with this tool. When used properly it will put the razor on edge and when you first use this sharpened blade you may find that it moves faster than you would expect based on previous experience. Take that from a guy who spent a year cutting meat on an assembly line, 40-50 hours a week. I still have all my fingers and have never been close to a serious cut on myself. A sharp knife is an indispensable tool in the kitchen. This sharpener will give you that. But be careful. Put on a glove. Install the tool in an open area and fasten it securely. Work slowly and with concentration. You will have a big sharp blade. And your fingers!

Pros
  • Cool
