I've had the same Outback for almost 17 years now. The first remote control died 7-8 years ago and was replaced by a working unbranded one. I was using a second OEM remote until it died a few days ago and ordered this one. It looks like OEM but after opening you will see that it is much cheaper. When I first tried to program it, nothing worked. What the instructions don't say (even the owner's manual) is that turning the key 10 times requires you to keep your foot on the brake. When I found that out after half an hour of searching the internal network, it programmed normally the first time. Something else. This key fob doesn't use CR2032 battery like OEM. It uses CR2025 which is the same voltage but about 1/3 thick. The CR2025 doesn't last as long as the CR2032, so buy spare batteries.
