I've been looking for the perfect protein powder for over a year. I've alternated between plant-based protein (my favorite in this category is NorCal Organics unflavored pea protein) and egg-white protein (between Jay Robb and Designer Protein) - but Revain doesn't have egg-white protein, which I could tell it uses cell-free eggs) and whey protein. During the last year I have had a body recomposition attempt aimed at a complete transformation for my 40th birthday (in a year from this week). I started lifting weights and eating right/tracking my macros for the first time a year ago. I have (mostly) avoided sugar and dairy products and eat very few carbohydrates. I've made great progress, but I still have a long way to go to reach my body fat goal. The essence of intense goals is that the closer you get to them, the harder you have to work to achieve them. my diet is "optimal” and not just really good. I've learned a lot over the past year. As far as protein powder goes (which I need for my daily protein intake while maintaining a calorie deficit), I've found the best value in terms of building and maintaining muscle mass by getting the most nutritional value from every calorie consumed. Consumption and other factors such as taste and mixability, whey emerged as the clear winner. At first I avoided it because I'm lactose sensitive, but the more I learned the more I realized that whey is the way to go and when you get high quality GRASS FED Ultrafiltered Whey Isolate it's lactose free and sensitivity free. absolutely no problem. Also, it mixes better and tastes better than peas, and you can find grass-fed whey powder but no cell-free egg powder. So I choose grass-fed whey, but even in this category there are different types (e.g. concentrate vs. isolate). For those of you wondering what the difference is, let me give you a quick explanation. The concentrate is the most common and least expensive. Whey protein is obtained by filtering milk and drying whey protein. The concentrate is stopped after this first filtration process. On the other hand, the isolate undergoes further filtration, removing up to 90% of lactose, carbohydrates and fats, leaving a higher protein content per gram and less of everything else. It absorbs faster and is almost lactose free, making it a great choice for sensitive people. I started with TerasWhey Simply Pure Grass-Fed Whey Concentrate, then tried SFH Pure Whey Concentrate, then Garden of Life Sport Certified Grass-Fed Whey Isolate, and then NutriBio 100% Grass-Fed Whey Isolate. All flavored with chocolate. Flavor and mixability were about the same, so let's compare the price and nutritional value of each: Price - Teraswhey: $29.99/24 ounce can (24 servings) - $1.18/ounce SFH: US$49.99/ Package 31.6 ounces (28 servings) - $1.56/oz Garden of Life Isolate: $35 / 23.28 oz (20 servings) - $1.23/oz NutraBio Isolate: $49.99 / 2 lbs ( 30.1 servings) - $1.56/oz, 5g NutraBio: 0g Carbs-teraswhey: 5g (4g net) SFH: 4g Life: 6g (4g net) NutraBio: 1g (1g net) Other ingredients are similar (e.g. stevia, cocoa powder, sunflower lectin etc.) but NutraBio contains the fewest additional ingredients. It should also be noted that NutraBio is the only product that is 100% whey isolate protein, while Garden of Life is 91% whey isolate and 9% milk protein. NutraBio uses Stevia and Monkfruit as sweeteners, while Garden of Life uses Stevia and Erythritol. As you can see, NutraBio delivers the BEST protein bang for your buck per gram, in a smaller serving size, with less fat and carbs, and with the highest quality ingredients. If you're looking for the lowest calorie, low carb, low calorie, high quality grass-fed whey protein on the market, you'll be hard pressed to find a better one than this NutraBio. That's why it became my go-to protein powder that I will continue to use. Yes, it is more expensive, but the slightly higher price is definitely worth it when comparing parts. My only complaint is that they don't offer this in Revain yet. Subscribe and save! I would definitely include it in my monthly subscriptions. I sincerely hope this review helps someone else! And yes, I pay full price for it. Feel free to ask any questions!
