I am not a backpacker and am not buying this for use on lakes or rivers or even out of the country. I bought this to filter my city's tap water to remove any possible solids, chemicals and/or heavy metals. My wife and I drink about a gallon of water every day. We took bottles of Zephyrhills and drank 14 or more bottles of water for two each day. I was looking for an alternative to save time, money and get rid of plastic water bottle waste. I have purchased this product and have been using it for a week, filtering water in GRAYL and pouring into gallon jugs which I then conveniently pour into my insulated stainless steel water bottle throughout the day. The water tastes great and I can't tell apart from the Zephyhills bottled water that I've been buying and drinking for years. I haven't tried the water after filtering, but I'm incredibly happy with the convenience and taste. Thank you!
