Terribly dull blade reacts to food

I bought one of these 10 years ago and it was my favorite potato peeler until it went dull about a month ago: a simple stainless steel utensil that worked great and hasn't been needed at improvements. In this version, the blade has been replaced with carbon steel, which reacts with acid in food and leaves a black residue wherever it is cleaned. This "fancy" blade also feels a lot duller and more likely to clog with bits of food stuck in it. So sad. I wish I could find this wonderful, simple vegetable cutter that doesn't need improvement.
